. . . Educating To Inspire Stewardship Excellence . . .

About

Table Stewards aims to educate and inspire stewardship excellence in those entrusted with the governance and administration of churches, charities, foundations, non-profit and non-governmental organisations.

Table Stewards does this by providing quality articles aimed at safeguarding churches and charities against financial loss, reputation damage and safety risks, through implementing good governance, risk management and internal controls.

By equipping stewards, we aim to ignite passion for value-added stewardship with diligence and integrity, thereby enabling organisations to reach greater heights of success.  Stewards in turn can develop a breadth of valuable and rewarding experience.  Read our Articles.

Table Stewards focusses on governance of the administrative affairs of these organisations rather than spiritual governance.

Table Stewards uses a light-hearted conversational approach based on the affairs of a fictitious church, The Stable Foundation Church, and its fictitious members alongside their Coach, to set the scene for putting across valuable knowledge to its audience.

The characters are purely fictitious and designed to help bring the topics to life. Our audience may grow to know these fictitious members, possibly identify with some, and benefit from the knowledge shared towards their own governance and stewardship journey.

Introducing The Stable Foundation Church

Please note that this is a purely fictitious church used for scenario setting for our blog topics.

Table Stewards uses a fictitious church called The Stable Foundation Church, to set the scene for its articles.

The Stable Foundation Church is a fast growing church and a registered charity organisation.  It was founded by Pastor Joe, who is the spiritual head at the headquarter church.  There are 3 other branches in other parts of the country headed by designated ministers.

The core objective of the church is to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ.  The ancillary objectives include charity outreaches, the development of its members to maximise their destinies, and Christian education.

The Stable Foundation Church has a Church Board that governs its administrative affairs.  The board members are also Trustees of the church-based charity organisation.

The Board is supported by various leadership committees, church staff as well as members who lead on various services provided by the church e.g. children’s church, hospitality, ushering, technical, protocol, choir etc.

The board members have varied backgrounds, skills and experience.  They are keen to ensure that they jointly and severally discharge their stewardship in a way that adds value and enables the church to maximise its objectives and opportunities.

With that in mind, the Board recently established a Learning and Development Committee (LDC) as a sub-committee of the Board, with the remit to build the capability of all leaders, staff and members undertaking service activities through education, knowledge, and development support.

LDC has 5 members including a Coach.  The LDC has arranged weekly meetings on Saturdays, where all leaders, staff and serving members come together to for an hour to learn, ask questions and build their capability to be effective stewards.

The LDC has a pre-meeting each Saturday, where they consider questions that have come through during the week or issues at hand, and then decide on the topic that the Coach will cover during the one hour session.

Meet the LDC –

  • Brother Sam is the chair of the LDC; he is very charismatic and diplomatic in approach. He is also a school principal of a top performing school in the locality.

  • Sister Jane is the deputy Chair; can be sceptical, down to earth and says it as it is!  She is also a member of the choir and new members welcoming committee.

  • Sister Mary is the secretary; shows great attention to detail, is inquisitive and good at connecting issues.

  • Brother Badtrus is a member, who also separately is a member of the Finance Committee; keen to learn, challenges disorder and can sometimes be overbearing.

  • Coach Emmanuel is the Stewardship Coach; very experienced and knowledgeable, a great teacher, coach and mentor.
